USSA Cycling Championships results & GC: Heyns, Preen take overall win
Maties’ Gert Heyns and UCT’s Hayley Preen claimed the overall win at the USSA Cycling Championships after the final day in Pretoria yesterday.
The criterium and hill climb was won by Tuks’ Alex Worsdale. UCT’s Martin Freyer claimed second place in the criterium, with Maties’ Jacques Lloyd in third. Heyns placed second in the hill climb, with Freyer in third.
Heyns finished with an overall time of 6:48:53, while Lloyd claimed second in 6:49:12 and Freyer third in 6:49:29.
Preen’s total time was 5:15:55, with Maties’ Linda van Wyk finishing second overall in 5:18:02 and Pukke’s Kristen Louw third in 5:18:08.
The women’s criterium race was won by Preen in 31:22, with second and third going to Maties’ Catherine Pellow-Jarman in 31:30 and Tuks’ Michelle Benson in 31:33 respectively.
Preen also won the hill climb in 6:15, with Louw second in 6:28 and Van Wyk third in 6:35.
